What lenses are compatible with the E-M10 Mark II?
It uses the Micro Four Thirds (m43) mount, so it accepts any Micro 4/3 lens from Olympus/OM System and Panasonic/Lumix, plus third-party options like Sigma or Laowa. Does it record in 4K?
No. The Mark II records at most Full HD 1080p at 60 fps; 4K arrived with the E-M10 Mark III. It also lacks a microphone input and headphone output, so it falls short for serious video. For photography and occasional clips, it performs without issue.
How is the battery and battery life?
It uses the BLS-50 battery (also compatible with the older BLS-5) and its CIPA-rated battery life is around 320 shots, somewhat modest. It's advisable to buy 1-2 spare batteries. We recommend originals: cheap generics can swell and cause 'battery empty' errors; sometimes that warning is just dirt on the contacts.
Is it good for beginners?
Yes, it's one of the most recommended entry-level mirrorless cameras for its image quality, 5-axis IBIS, and dual control dials. As a downside, the menus are overwhelming at first and Auto ISO is simplistic (no minimum shutter speed). With some initial setup, it's an excellent companion for learning.
Is it suitable for sports, running kids, or wildlife?
It's not its strength. Single-shot autofocus is fast and reliable, but continuous tracking (AF-C) is weak with subjects moving toward or away. For portraits, street, travel, and landscape, it works very well; for fast action, there are more suitable models.
What should I check when buying a used one?
Check shutter wear, that the IBIS stabilizes without strange noises, the sensor for dust or spots, the touchscreen and tilting hinge (a weak point), the grip rubber, and that the viewfinder has no dead pixels. Also verify that the original battery isn't deformed.
How do I distinguish the Mark II from the Mark III or the original E-M10?
They look very similar aesthetically, so confirm the model on the body: the Mark II has 5-axis IBIS (the original only 3) but doesn't record 4K (that was added in the Mark III). This is a common confusion in used sales, so it's worth ensuring before buying.
