About this unit

The Fujifilm X-T30 II arrived in late 2021 as a discreet update to the beloved X-T30 of 2019: same compact body with retro aesthetics, same sensor and same engine, but with very specific improvements that make it more well-rounded. It is the little sister of the X-T4, designed for the advanced enthusiast who wants the image quality of the X series without carrying weight or spending more.

It mounts the APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor of 26.1 MP with the X-Processor 4, the same tandem as much superior cameras, so file quality and the famous Fujifilm film simulations are at a very high level. Compared to the original, the "II" gains a sharper rear screen (1.62M dots), autofocus that responds down to -7 EV in low light, 1080/240p slow motion, and longer 4K recording per clip.

It is ideal for travel, street, portrait, and casual video, with physical dials that invite you to photograph with intention. It is worth knowing that it does not have in-body stabilization (IBIS), so handheld and in low light it is advisable to rely on lenses with OIS or a tripod. In return, second-hand it offers the high-end sensor at a very attractive price.

· Frequently asked questions ·
What lenses are compatible with the X-T30 II?

It uses the Fujifilm X mount and has interchangeable lenses, so it accepts all Fujinon XF and XC lenses, as well as third-party lenses with X mount (Sigma, Tamron, Viltrox, Samyang...). You can see options in our collection of Fujifilm X mount lenses. Medium format GF lenses are not compatible.

Does it have in-body stabilization (IBIS)?

No. The X-T30 II does not include in-body stabilization; it never had it. For handheld shooting in low light or stable video recording, it is advisable to use lenses with OIS or a tripod. If IBIS is essential for you, this is not the model.

How is it for video and vlogging?

It records 4K up to 30p and Full HD at 240p for slow motion, with very good quality for casual use. Keep in mind two limitations: the screen is only tilting (it does not flip forward for self-recording) and, since it does not have a stacked sensor or ventilation, some rolling shutter and heating may appear in long takes.

Is it good for someone starting in photography?

Yes, it is an excellent gateway to the Fujifilm system. The physical dials help you understand shutter speed, ISO, and aperture intuitively, and the film simulations give very striking results without editing. It is light and compact, although the grip is small for large telephoto lenses.

How is the battery and battery life?

It uses the battery NP-W126S, with a CIPA-rated battery life of about 380-390 shots, which decreases in real use with the viewfinder or video. It charges via USB-C. These batteries are cheap and easy to find, so carrying one or two spares is convenient and economical.

Is it reliable to buy this camera second-hand?

Yes. It shares the sensor and processor with superior models, so second-hand it offers a very good price-performance ratio. It is a mature body with firmware well updated throughout its life. Each unit is inspected before being put up for sale.

What should I check when buying it used?

Confirm that it is the "II" and not the original X-T30 (they are distinguished by a sharper screen, AF at -7 EV, and 1080/240p). Check that the shutter speed and ISO dials have no play, inspect the sensor for dust, the touchscreen and viewfinder, and assess the battery condition. The USB-C and HDMI ports should work correctly.

To complete it, take a look at spare batteries, memory cards, or camera cases.
